Frequently Asked Questions

We are obsessed with the perfect ride and love nothing more than talking about it, especially when it comes to Triumphs. Whether it’s building your dream motorcycle to give you the best experience, learning about our decorated history, or wanting to know how a bike comes to life, here you’ll be able to find answers to some of the most frequent questions we’re asked at Triumph HQ:

    When was Triumph formed?

Triumph was actually formed as a bicycle manufacturing company by Siegfried Bettmann in Coventry in 1887. The first ‘proper’ bike was built in 1902. The rest is history.

    Who owns Triumph today?

Triumph Motorcycles Limited, the company, is a 100% privately owned company. Our parent company is called Bloor Holdings Limited, which is owned by John Bloor. The spirit of Triumph, however, belongs to you, the rider.

    Where are Triumph’s factories based?

Triumph has six-world class factories around the world, all 100% owned by our company. Two of these factories are based in Hinckley in the UK, just a stone’s throw from the Mallory Park race track – guess what we do there from time to time?! Three are in Chonburi, Thailand and one is in Manaus, Brazil.

Can I visit the Triumph factory?

Yes. In 2017 we opened our state of the art ‘Factory Visitor Experience’. This is free to the general public and houses a priceless collection of triumph memorabilia and motorcycles. For a fully immersive experience, we also offer factory tours at an additional cost. Opening times, pricing and further details are available on our website. To avoid disappointment, please book factory tours in advance.

How long does it take to develop a new Triumph motorcycle?

It can vary from model to model, but typically the design and development of a new Triumph takes around 3 – 5 years from concept to delivery.

    Does Triumph export its products?

We have around 750 dealers in 35 countries. Around 80% of our product is sold outside of the UK. The world loves a Triumph.

Are there any new models to look forward to?

As much as we’d love to tell you everything we have planned, we can’t disclose details of exact models. But stay tuned because we have big plans to expand our range in the coming years and these are exciting times for riders.

Does Triumph run any events in which I can participate?

You’ll find us at most major exhibitions and our dealers are involved with many local events throughout the year. Check out the Events page on this site for more details or talk to your dealer.
