PTR Triumph Factory Racing’s Tom Booth-Amos secured a fourth place finish in Saturday’s FIM Supersport World Championship race one, finishing just 0.034 seconds behind third place at Circuito de Jerez.

The 12th and final round of the 2026 World Supersport season got underway on a scorching Friday in southern Spain, with Booth-Amos and Jorge Navarro, who was deputising for Oli Bayliss who was on British Supersport duty at Brands Hatch, taking to the 4.42-km circuit for Friday practice.

A positive session set up a promising Superpole, which delivered a front row start for Navarro despite suffering a small crash at turn 6. Meanwhile, Booth-Amos delivered a lap worthy of seventh place for the weekend’s opening race.

With another blistering race ahead of the PTR Triumph riders, both Navarro and Booth-Amos set off for their 17-lap battle. Navarro rounded turn one in third whilst Booth-Amos held seventh through the opening sector before jumping to sixth over the line.

As the field settled, TBA was quick to make his moves, utilising the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS’ triple power and his strengths into turn six to first pass Mattia Casadei, then Jeremy Alcoba and then teammate Navarro to claim third.

From there, Booth-Amos pushed on but a mid-race surge from Alcoba forced the British rider to settle for fourth for the time being. A late push from the number 69 Triumph brought him back into podium contention and looked to out drag his rival to the finish line, but missed out by a mere 0.034 seconds when the flag fell. Navarro concluded his first race back aboard the Street Triple in seventh position but did secure the fastest lap to put his number 9 machine on pole for Sunday’s race.

The finale of the 2026 World Supersport Championship got underway under moody Spanish skies as the threat of rain built alongside the tension. From pole, Navarro looked to impress in front of his home crowd, slotting into third with Booth-Amos behind. TBA was quick to get ahead, passing Navarro on the opening lap before a mistake and contact with Albert Arenas on the second tour brought their races to an end.

With Navarro the sole PTR Triumph Factory Racing rider on track and running sixth, he looked to push back towards the podium fight when a crash at turn eight brought his race to an early end and brought the session to an early conclusion.

The 2026 season has delivered the Lincolnshire-based team three race wins and eight further podium finishes alongside teammate Oli Bayliss. Booth-Amos concludes his 2026 season in fifth overall with Bayliss 14th. After two rounds, Navarro placed 22nd in the standings.

Tom Booth-Amos

“Not the way I wanted to end the season. I misjudged the braking point and hit Albert. I’m sorry to him and the AS Racing team. The season overall has delivered some positives, I look back at the Donington double and the win in Estoril with pride and now we see what the future holds for us and come back stronger.”

Jorge Navarro

“For sure not how I hoped the weekend would end. We showed good speed all weekend with the position in Superpole. I had a good start to race one but dropped back to seventh in the end which is a shame because we had hoped for a better result given our pace. Today was tougher. I crashed in Warm Up and then again in the race trying to push to achieve a strong result. Thank you to Simon and the PTR Triumph Factory Racing team for the opportunity to ride again this weekend.”
